HMSA AS THE
SANCTIONING BODY FOR
2010 MONTEREY HISTORIC AUTOMOBILE RACES®
Participant Entry Forms Now Available
MONTEREY, Calif. (November 16, 2009) – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca officials today announced the classes for the Monterey Historic Automobile Races® and The Monterey Pre-Historics to give the car owners more information in assisting them in selecting which cars they would like to enter. The Entry Forms for both races are being sent out this week to prospective participants and will be available online at www.mazdaraceway.com.
The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) will be the sanctioning body providing all of the rules, regulations and technical inspection for the Monterey Pre-Historics and Monterey Historic Automobile Races.
“In our continuing efforts to keep everyone informed, we are announcing the classes and making the forms readily available to participants. This gives everyone involved the information to decide which cars to enter, with enough time to get the cars ready and make arrangements,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Continuing in the tradition of this event, we anticipate cars of great heritage like the F1 cars, Bugattis in their own Grand Prix and for the first time – NASCAR with drum brakes.”
The Featured Classes for the 2010 Monterey Historic Automobile Races will be F1 1966-1983, Trans Am 1966-1972, Stock Cars (with drum brakes) 1966-1975 and a Bugatti Grand Prix.
The other classes include Pre 1949 Sports and Racing Cars, 1947-1955 GT and Sports Cars, 1947-1955 GT and Sports Racing Cars, 1955-1962 GT Cars, 1955-1961 Sports Racing Cars under 2000cc, 1955-1961 Sports Racing Cars, 1961-1966 GT Cars under 2500cc, 1964-1972 FIA Mfg. Championship Cars, 1971-1976 FIA Mfg. Championship Cars, 1973-1982 IMSA, GT, GTX, AAGT Cars, 1981-1989 FIA Mfg. Championship & IMSA GTP Cars, 1959-1966 Sports Racing Cars, 1963-1966 GT Cars over 2500cc, 1958-1963 Formula Junior Cars.
The deadline for Entry Form submissions is January 31, 2010 to afford the selection committee ample time to review and select the period-correct historic cars.

The Monterey Week of Pre-Historics (August 7-8) and Historics (August 12-15) will offer fresh new features that appeal to the local community, visiting fans and seasoned attendees who are craving daily automotive adventures. The Monterey Historics is one of the crown jewels of the Monterey Weekend by showcasing authentic and exciting on-track activities that can only be experienced at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.
